Hi, I’m Mike Mastrobuoni.
I'm a proud Medford parent, public servant, and candidate for the Medford School Committee.
I’ve spent over ten years working in government finance and budgeting, and I currently serve as Budget Director for the City of Somerville. In that role, I help plan and manage budgets for city services, school funding, and long-term investments. I know how to make public dollars go further and I want to bring that experience home to Medford. I've already done that through my appointment to our Water & Sewer Commission, which has been a great experience.
My two kids will be in Medford public schools for the next thirteen years. Like so many families, I want our schools to be places where all students can thrive, where teachers feel supported, and where programs are strong and accessible to all. Since joining the Roberts School community, I've had so much fun volunteering, like this year's STEM night where I helped teach kids to code in Minecraft.
I’m especially excited to collaborate with the school administration on initiatives that are already showing strong results, like the After School Task Force. The thoughtful work coming out of that group is a model for how we can solve real challenges by listening to families, thinking creatively, and working together. I want to support and expand that kind of forward-thinking approach across the district.
If elected, I’ll focus on:
-
Making Smart, Transparent Budgets: Using public funds wisely, with clear communication about where the money goes.
-
Fighting for Well-Funded Schools: Advocating for the resources our teachers and students need to succeed.
-
Planning for the Long Term: Supporting school buildings and services that will serve students now and in the future.
-
Putting Families and Students First: Listening to the community and ensuring every student, at every age and ability, has access to a great education.
When I have a moment of free time, you can find me trail running in the Fells or staring wistfully at the former Ebisuya location.
I’m ready to put my skills to work for Medford’s students, families, and educators. Let’s build a school system we can all be proud of now and for the years to come.
